The days are long and filled with cement.
I'm spending my way through the credit crunch and have crunched all my credit, typically, by midway through the month. I've bought a more convenient sized notebook with a view to penning more convenient sized missives.
From Paul's NS blog, (oh - wait, that's New Statesman, not National Socialist!) -

What have we learned this Week?
The Stop the War Coalition blog helpfully explained that Russia was upset because its “interests” were “directly challenged” – which is why it was forced to drive its military might into the heart of a sovereign neighbour, displacing swathes of the country’s population. Some of us might not have realised before that economic and strategic concerns were a legitimate premise for such violent incursions – thanks to STWC for clarifying.

Also, I didn't realise Mike Batt originally wrote the song 'If the Lights go Out' for The Hollies - or at least, it was originally recorded by them on their 80s album 'What Goes Around'. Has anyone heard their version? Is it even a patch on Katie Melua's wonderful version on last year's 'Pictures'?
I doubt it!
With the above in mind I wrote lyrics for my anti-Russian Imperialism song, which may or may not be called,
If only because it permeates through my past,
Like a beetroot through white bread,
Like a bullet through my head,
But I'm not too deaf to discern voices of reason,
And I'll not condone what I perceive to be treason
Against what we've achieved, and where we are at,
Just cos the culprit's cultivated a moustache.
And I like moustaches. And I like moustaches,
And I like to support the underdog in The World Cup,
Be it South Korea, Morocco or Turkey -
Perhaps even Scotland, even though they hate me,
Even though they bemoan and berate me -
But I'm not the kind of demented reactionary
Who'll cheer bombs the right colour
If they rain from the right skies
If they blow up the right guys.
And I like moustaches. And I like moustaches,
But I believe right now if you're siding with Russia,
If you really feel the need to take sides
And you're siding with Russia, you're callous,
And you ought to be re-educated.
Whatever your thoughts on the Bush administration,
If you believe Moscow's more blameless
You need your head trepanning
And the bullshit removed with a spoon.
Stop the war. Stop the war. Stop the war,
Unless it's the war on the war on the terror,
The terror's not terrible, terror's not terror no more.
Well, not in my name you don't:
I'm marching on Moscow with a gun and a thermos,
I'm finding that reptilian bastard and shooting him dead.
And I'm not coming back
Till I've got his head in a sack.
And I like moustaches but admit they're suspicious,
And I don't like McDonalds but admit they're delicious,
And I like Socialists but they taste bitter,
And I'd give up fighting but I am no quitter,
And I like moustaches but I can't grow a real one,
I sometimes draw jokers but don't like to deal one,
And I don't like being made to choose between devils
But I can tell the difference between different types of Revels
Stop the war. Stop the war. Stop the war,
Unless it's the war on the war on the terror,
The terror's not terrible, terror's not terror no more.
Well, not in my name you don't:
I'm marching on Moscow with a gun and a thermos,
I'm finding that reptilian bastard and shooting him dead.
And I'm not coming back
Till I've got his head in a sack.
If you like Russia so much,
If you like Russia so much,
Oh, if you like Russia so much,
Why don't you go live in Norfolk?
